In her talk, Elena will present some insights from her practice as a psychologist during the COVID-19 pandemic. She will describe how her practice changed due to the pandemic, both in terms of the format, and also in terms of the issues that her clients bring ’to the table’. Moreover, Elena will present her theoretical considerations, the concept of “temporal lens” and will discuss a challenging question of “Do we practice what we preach?”

Elena Kazakina, PhD is a licensed psychologist in independent practice in New Jersey, USA. She earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University and has been applying temporal concepts in counseling and psychotherapy since her dissertation research on time perspective in 1999.

She has worked as a supervising psychologist, clinician and consultant in various clinical settings in the New York Metropolitan area, including Trinitas Medical Center and Seagate Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care. She is a member of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Kazakina joined the Time Perspective Network in 2009 in Oslo, presenting at the XI European Congress of Psychology. She gave talks and workshops on the integration of time perspective research and clinical practice at home in the US, as well as at International Time Perspective Conferences (2012-2018). Her writings appeared in the volumes “International Studies in Time Perspective” (2013), “Time Perspective Theory; Review, Research and Application ” (2015) and “Time Perspective: Theory and Practice (2017).
